Hello! Today I’m bringing back a few classics that I’ve worn multiple times before on the blog but styled in preparation for transitioning my wardrobe into spring. I’ve realized that there are pieces in my wardrobe that I constantly reach for over and over so they are worth writing about again. In light of focusing on quality basics this year I thought I’d share with you guys what’s worth the investment in case you are starting to think about what you need to buy for spring.
I don’t know about you but my mindset is set on spring everything! Even though it’s still cold and grey outside it doesn’t mean you can’t get your wardrobe in tip-top shape for spring. Right now it’s all about building out your basic pieces. Spring can actually be quite chilly in DC until May which means having the right lightweight layers are crucial.
I know I sound like a broken record but as I get older I’ve learned to appreciate getting the best pieces that I know I’ll get the most use out of. My lifestyle is no longer as trendy as it used to be. I much prefer to stay at home and cook dinner with my husband or head out to a casual meal wearing a long sleeve knit, my favorite jeans, and my leather jacket thrown on over it all. It’s what I feel most comfortable in and get the most use out of.
Here are the 3 items I plan to wear non-stop over the next 2 months transition into spring:
Neutral Jackets -there are 3 jackets I recommend you pick up for the in between seasons: a leather moto jacket, a green or brown utility jacket, and a denim jacket. Potentially a navy blazer as mentioned here if your lifestyle requires you to be a little more buttoned up. These are the jackets you’ll get the most use out of because you can wear them multiple different ways.
Lighter Denim – pick up a medium wash, a light wash (also these), and a white pair of denim. As far as style is concerned, it’s up to you. I’ve personally been drawn to high-waisted jeans in cropped styles for spring and summer. I love a narrow pant, a cropped flare, and a wide leg as I believe they are the most flattering on my body type (little waist with wider hips). I’m 5’5″ btw! I also find cropped styles hit my ankle just right (regular jeans are usually too long on me).
Long Sleeve Knits – I wear long sleeve knits so much under everything! It was last year around this time I realized this void in my wardrobe. I’m so glad I bought a handful of long sleeve knits because they are the perfect layering piece that I wear ALL the time. This cashmere crew is my most worn knit in addition to this style from Everlane. I might need to pick up a few more colors for spring like grey and cream.
