Hello there friends! The cold weather has officially started to wreck havoc on my skin so I decided to head to the store a week ago to pick up a few new products to incorporate into my fall/winter beauty routine. Typically this time of year my skin gets drier which tends to create rough skin, redness/sensitivity, and occasional breakouts. Also my summer tan has long gone away so my change in skin color has caused me to change up the colors I use on my face.
For the most part I am still using most of my tried and true favorites but with a few tweaks. I also made a video to walk you through my FULL routine from skincare to makeup. It was pretty long to begin with (I guess I’m obsessed with these products) but I cut it down to about 14 minutes. Please note I am not a pro at filming/editing but I really hope it helps you decide what to do this season when it comes to all things beauty! I also have a new found respect to all the vloggers out there – editing a video is no joke 🙂
I link ALL of the products I am using in the video which you can watch on my YouTube channel here! The video is also below. Let me know if you have any other questions and I’d love to know what your favorite products are this time of year too!
#1 A Cleanser for Sensitive Skin: I have a weird obsession with cleansers but I always love and come back to Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. Its a cleanser that works well for dry and sensitive skin in the winter.
#2 A Gentle Exfoliant: This is a must have step in anyone’s winter beauty routine to get rid of dryness. I am currently loving Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant because it doesn’t irritate my skin and I can use it everyday.
#3 A Hydrating Toner: Because sometimes cleanser doesn’t get everything off…I am loving Fresh’s Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner it also softens skin, shrinks pores, and works for sensitive skin.
#4 Vitamin C Serum: This is something I wear all year round to prevent and correct signs of aging. Skinceuticals C E Ferulic is 100% the best product on the market for this!
#5 Plus a Hydrating Serum: Find a serum with hyaluronic acid to create and lock in moisture. I have recently been using Skinceuticals HA Intensifier because it takes hydration to another level by adding plumpness!
#6 Find an Effective Eye Cream: La Mer The Eye Concentrate is my absolute favorite eye cream. Period.
#7: A Must-Have Moisturizer: The best moisturizer on the market (that I’ve tried) is definitly La Mer’s Creme de la Mer. It is very hydrating while making your skin glow after applying it. I have never had skin issues after using product. Its pricey but worth it.
#8 Lip Balm Forever: My #1 all time favorite lip balm for all year round is Sara Happ’s The Lip Slip. I’ve had mine for more than a year so you definitely get your money’s worth!
#9 Hydrating Primer: This is a new step for me. I need all the hydration I can get in the colder months and I love Laura Mercier’s Hydrating Primer. It also makes foundation look SO much better and makes your skin look like you’ve drank multiple glasses of water.
#10 Tinted Moisturizer that is both Hydrating and Matches your Skin Color: I’ve officially gone back to Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer in my winter color Porcelain. I recommend getting matched in store if you need a new color for winter.
#11 A High Coverage Concealer:The Nars Radiance Creamy Concealer is a product I use everyday and all year round. It is a high coverage concealer that goes on so super smooth.
#12 A Simple Eye Base Primer: I don’t use eyeshadows too much so this one is a simple go-to of mine that I use everyday. It does enough to cover up any darkness on your eyelid. My current favorite is Lune+Aster Eyelid Primer.
#13 Face Palette that does it all: Trish McEvoy does it again with her new Confidence to Go Palette. In the video I use the bronzer in Dual Resort and blush in Perfect. They are both perfect for my fairer skin tone right now. The set also comes with 3 natural eyeshadow colors, 4 brushes (!!), and an eyeliner. Need I say more? But really – her product is amazing (in my opinion). I highly recommend this set. I am using my favorite Trish McEvoy #5 Powder Brush while applying the bronzer, blush, and setting powder.
#14 Get a Flawless Finish: An often overlooked step you shouldn’t miss all year round. A finishing powder on top of your makeup will make your skin look amazing and I love Trish McEvoy Translucent Finishing Powder for doing just that in the winter. Its SO good. I am also using Trish McEvoy #5 Powder Brush to apply this product.
#16 Volumizing Mascara: I have been loving Two Faced Better than Sex Mascara for a while now mostly for its ease of use and I also like how thick my lashes look. You also don’t need too many coats.
#17 Don’t Forget Your Brows: A step I sometimes skip most days but I have been using brushing the Pebble eyeshadow that is in Trish McEvoy’s Confidence to Go Palette. I am using Trish McEvoys #32 Eyebrow Brush to apply on my brows in the video.
#18 A Go-To Fall/Winter Lip: I’ve been obsessing over Mac lipsticks for a while now and lately I’ve been all about the nudes. In the video I am wearing Mac’s Lip Pencil in Whirl (works with most nude lipsticks) and Mac’s Matte Lipstick in Taupe – a subtle brownish red matte.
