6 Fall Beauty Trends I’m Loving Now

October 7, 2015

IMG_1857IMG_1870IMG_1879

There are 6 beauty trends that I have been incorporating into my routine as of late. I try not to get too dramatic when it comes to makeup since I like to keep my look pretty simple. These 6 products have freshened up my look in subtle ways.

#1 Peach and Taupe Hues: I have mentioned before that I am a huge fan of Trish McEvoy products. I have an eye shadow set that has the perfect updated fall palette. I use Trish McEvoy Glaze Eyeshadow in Cream to highlight the brow bone, White Peach on the lower lid to add a neutral base, and little bit of Tawny in the crease to create more depth to my eyes. I also LOVE Trish McEvoy’s Lash Enhancing Liquid Liner Pen because it is super easy to create a thin line above your lashes and it immediately brightens up your eyes. I have also been using Trish McEvoy’s High Volume Mascara – the wand makes it super easy to reach all lashes and doesn’t cause any clumping.

#2 Defined Eye Brows: It is all about a bold eyebrow to really add a flattering shape to your face. I have been loving Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pencil to add a little more shape to my barely there blonde eye brows.

#3 Glowing Skin: The best way to get a quick glow to your face is with a great luminizer. I have been putting RMS Living Luminizer on my high checkbones, above my eyebrow, and the tip of my nose (basically wherever natural light hits your face). It isn’t too shiny and makes your skin look amazing!

#4 Nude Lip Color: I love to wear lipsticks during the fall and winter months because they add color to my face when my skin is on the fairer side. Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color in Pink Nude is a great formula that lasts for a long period of time. I generally prefer matte lipsticks because they make a bolder statement and don’t rub off throughout the day.

#5 Healthy Blowout: When I leave myself enough to time to blow dry my hair in the mornings, I love to use a protective hair balm that gives my hair hydration and shine. Bumble and Bumble’s Repair Blow Dry came out last year and it is a keeper! I put it on damp hair and then style with a flat or round brush. It leaves my hair incredibly soft yet still adds a healthy bounce to it. HIGHLY recommend (especially for those with dry or frequently colored hair)!

#6 Deep Red and Pink Nail Polish: I try to do my own nails every weekend and of course I have started to pull out my darker shades. Lately, Essie Bordeaux and Essie Angora Cardi have been on repeat. Does anyone else make their nail polish decision based on their names?

Effortless Beauty

Most weekends I am all about keeping my beauty routine quick and simple. These 6 products were all I needed to give my skin and hair a healthy glow (plus out the door in 5 minutes last Saturday). Here is what I did:

#1 Illuminating Primer: First I used a pea size amount of Laura Mercier’s Foundation Primer in Radiance all over my face. It has a subtle pearl tint that immediately covered up tiny imperfections and gave me an instant glow.

#2 Concealer: The one product I can’t live without is a great concealer. Right now I have been using Laura Mercier’s Secret Concealer (I wear #1.5) to cover up dark circles around my under eye and nose areas. I also love and highly recommend Trish McEvoy’s Instant Eye Lift.

#3 Long-Wear Eye Base: Another product I reached for (and wear almost everyday) is Trish McEvoy’s Eye Base Essentials in Bare. It is like a concealer for the upper eye area by erasing any and all of the darkness around the eye lids. I usually wear it alone but it is also great primer before layering on additional eyeshadow.

#4 Natural Bronzer: Next, I added a dose of Trish McEvoy’s Bronzer to the sides of my forehead, under my cheek bones, and along my jawline. This bronzer adds beautiful natural color and is compatible for all skin tones.

#5 Hydrating Face Mist: I topped off my look with Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir. It offers many benefits to the skin by adding hydration and radiance. It is also a great product for setting makeup.

#6 Conditioning Hair Serum: I admit, I never blow dry my hair these days (truth be told my hair dryer decided to fail me recently and I haven’t found a replacement yet). I have been using Bumble and Bumble’s Don’t Blow It Hairstyler on my hair after hopping out of the shower in the morning so I can quickly get out the door. It makes my air-dried hair look healthy and hydrated with minimal effort!

I am a big beach bum and while I have been slathering on sunscreen this whole summer it is inevitable that I would get a few more freckles on my skin. I am trying to amp up my skincare routine to help fix the damage. Here is my current routine:

Morning Routine:

1) Dermalogica Skin Resurfacing Cleanser is an extra creamy exfoliating formula that effectively gets rid of all the grime from the night and retexturizes my skin so that my skin is ready to fully absorb the ingredients of my serums and moisturizers.

2) Revive Perfectif Even Skin Tone Serum (c/o) has been something I have religiously using to help erase dark spots and brighten my skin to give me an immediate healthy glow.

3) Revive Perfectif Even Skin Tone Cream SPF 30 (c/o) has the same benefits of the serum (brightens and erases dark spots) but has the added benefit of SPF 30 so my skin is protected from the sun to prevent future damage. I am not kidding when I say that this cream immediately brightens your skin for a dewy glow!

4) Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Eye Serum is an amazing eye treatment that I have been putting under all of my eye creams because it immediately hydrates and reduces dark circles.

5) M-61 Hydraboost Eye (c/0) does it all – it hydrates, de-puffs, firms, and reduces dark circles.

Night Routine:

1) Caudalie Makeup Remover Cleansing Water (c/o) is something I love using after I cleanse at night to get off all the extra makeup and dirt. I love this cleansing water because it is super gentle and does the job right!

2) Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel (c/0) is an essential serum to have all year round. It is so soothing in the summer (especially to relieve sunburn and can even be used as a replacement to a moisturizer in the hotter months) and during the winter to add extra hydration under your winter moisturizer to relieve dryness and redness.

3) Odacite Eye Contour Serum Concentrate is an oil based serum formulated with vitamins to reduce wrinkles and puffiness in the eye area. It is a great nighttime treatment!

4) Revive Moisturizing Renewal Cream (c/o) is a glycolic acid face cream that renews and moisturizes so I wake up with smooth refreshed skin.

SOS: there are a few times a week when I treat my skin to a mask. Sometimes your skin just needs a little something more. My favorite recovery mask I have been reaching for post beach weekends is Dermalogica’s Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque.  It remedies extra dry and dull skin which tends to happen a lot while being in the sun for too long.

*all of these products came from Bluemercury (a company headquartered in Washington DC)
