Just a few photos to put a smile on your face this Sunday. Hope you have a good one!
Happy Friday! I’ve been wanting to put together this post for a while because I figure it might be helpful for any of you puppy mamas or soon to be puppy mamas out there. Just a few necessary products that I feel have been great for our little love Sadie.
PetSafe Easy Walk Harness – we didn’t start using this until Sadie was about 5 months but it is a game changer and a really good collar for dogs that pull when they walk. Sadie isn’t big puller on walks but I find it gives her more freedom when she walks. Like she feels less restricted or something. It’s also less harsh on their necks as you try to navigate them on your walks.
Ez Pick-Up Poop Bag Holder and Bags – I like the material of these poopy bags because it makes it so much easier to open up. Some of the plastic poop bags are harder to get open but these make it a cinch!
Purina Pro Plan EN Diet – Sadie has had GI issues since we got her. I think I took her to the vet 6 times for GI related issues. It led us to this prescription formula which has been working great since we started using it. If your pup ends up having the same issues, I highly recommend this diet! We will likely transition her to something else but for now this one is allowing everyone to sleep at night.
GoGoKing Silver Bowls – I like the black grip around the edges of this bowl making it more stable on the ground and harder for Sadie to flip over! She was known to pick up flimsy bowls with her mouth and throw them around as a puppy haha so these are great.
Millard Premium Orthopedic Memory Foam Bed – Sadie doesn’t sleep on her bed at night but she loves to enjoy chewing her bone on this memory foam bed throughout the day.
Soft Squeaky Toys – She also loves fluffy squeaky toys like this one that has a squeaker inside. So far she hasn’t torn them up but we warned that your dog might eventually dissect them. She also really loves these stuffing-less toys that often make a plastic sound which she enjoys. I really want to get her a more interactive toy like this one to keep her entertained for a longer period of time (they are also so darn cute!)
MidWest Home Dog Crate – A very popular crate that makes it relatively easy to store and travel with. Although it is a little heavy so it can be a little bit of a pain if you plan to travel with your crate a lot this one is a good option. It also comes with a divider so you can move it to create more space as your pup grows.
Pet Stain & Odor Miracle – A MUST have if you are getting a puppy who will have multiple accidents in your home! It’s unfortunate truth but this helps!
Burt’s Bees 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner – I love this product! It doesn’t have a harsh smell and I love the soft texture of Sadie’s hair after I use it.
Furminator – A must have brush for dogs that shed.
BarksBar Luxury Pet Car Seat Cover – This has been great for taking her around town as we take her to Rover and frequent take her to visit friends and family.

Happy Friday! I am hoping to bring a little happiness to your Friday with a post about dogs!
Somehow within the past 2 months, my life and priorities have drastically changed! It is crazy to think about how much this not so little bundle of fluff has shifted our lives. I originally created this blog to share all things fashion. Believe me, I still love fashion and still plan to share plenty of fashion. BUT I’ve started to become even more inspired by other day to day things that make me even happier. I’m going to start to sprinkle a little more of those topics around here with the hopes that too you will relate to them and/or leave you feeling inspired!
Today brings me to the topic of dogs! Gosh, I’ve long been a dog lover since childhood. I guess you’re sort of brainwashed when your parents raise dogs your whole life and treat them as little members of the family. I’ve loved dogs my whole life and always knew I wanted to own one of my own one day. So Brett and I took the plunge and picked up an 8 week old golden retriever almost 2 months ago! More about how to survive your first month with a puppy in this post here.
I knew getting a dog would bring me a lot of happiness and it sure did. It is hard at times but all worth it for her. I’ve grown up with dogs that my parents raised and I definitely felt all of the happy vibes but it’s a little different when raising your own. If you have a dog or are thinking of getting a dog here are the 5 positive things that happened to me the moment I got Sadie.
#1 Dogs Bring So Much Happiness: Sadie is the sweetest pup who is such a delight to be around. Every time I come home, wake up, take her for a walk, or glance at her happily sleeping by my feet I can’t help but smile! It is also fun to see the smiles she puts on other people’s faces when they walk by or ask to pet her. I am tearing up just writing this out. Dogs are truly the best!
#2 Dogs Bring Your Family Closer Together: Getting a dog as a family or with your husband/significant other will cause a shift in your dynamic but I can guarantee it will bring you closer together and start enjoying life in a different way. All of a sudden your whole world revolves around the dog – wanting to be around them, caring for them, and doing what’s best for them.
These pictures were taken with my family over Memorial Day Weekend. It was one of the most low key Memorial Day Weekends I’ve had in a while. I love my family and being around them lights up my life. Now that we have 5 dogs to add on top of that is a real treat. I love seeing how they interact with one another. It just makes my heart the happiest.
#3 Dogs put into Perspective What’s Really Important: Getting a dog means making sacrifices. Less dinners out, less frequent spur of the moment trips, less happy hours, and less money spent on material things. You just start to become more concerned about creating a good life for your dog and your family. You start to realize how important family is and how much they are your one true source of happiness. Your whole life starts to shift into making family life a healthy priority.
#4 Dogs Are Good Practice for Growing Your Family: Raising a puppy will teach you a thing or two about raising a baby one day (so I’ve been told). Brett and I definitely talk about expanding our family one day and I know this is the practice we need to get to that point. If it scares you from having a baby, well, you can always get another dog 🙂
#5 Dogs Teach You to Be More Selfless: Ever since Sadie entered our lives I’ve learned to live my life less selfishly. Before Sadie I was so concerned about what I was doing, where we were going for dinner, how my job was going, etc. Now those things seem so much less important which is great because I don’t feel the need to stress about those things any longer. My attention is more so focused on being the best dog mom and wife for my family!
For all the dog owners out there what positive things have they brought to your life that I haven’t mentioned?
