Happy Weekend! Ah, to be honest I’ve been struggling to find things to blog about lately. I blame the winter weather still lingering into spring amongst other things. I had the idea to write this post a few weeks ago and I thought now is the perfect time to go with it. It’s normal to get in a rut every once in a while and think our lives are well, stuck? I was even debating on whether or not to post this because I don’t know… I was second guessing myself. It was until I read Grace’s post that encouraged me to hit the post button today.
Since I’ve been in a rut creatively lately I thought I’d share a few sources of inspiration that always re-kindle the creative juices. I’m hoping you will find some inspiration in it too!
1. Places (Near or Far): Whether you’re rediscovering a spot in your own city, planning a trip to a new exotic location, or simply researching places on the web there is so much inspiration to gather – from fashion to interior design. I always get such a high from planning a trip or actually being in a new place. We are heading to the beautiful island of Maui in a few weeks so my mind is set on tropical printed dresses, casual day wear (think cut-off shorts and tie-front button downs), and glowing bronzed skin. If you can’t travel then try to find a new area in your own city or town. Check out a new coffee shop or explore the blossoming flowers around your town. Sometimes I’ll go on Pinterest and start pinning dreamy destinations like Provence or the Italian Riviera just to make me happy.
2. Brands: Although I like to touch on multiple different topics from time to time here on the blog, fashion is the main topic I like to focus on. I just love it! I always find inspiration from the runway collections as well as a few contemporary lifestyle brands to create or re-post such amazing content. Each season I browse all the runway shows and pin all my favorite looks. Later I’ll pick my favorite looks and try to re-create similar outfits but for way less money. For this Spring – Temporarily London and Emilio Pucci are both giving me serious vaca vibes while Ulla Johnson, Zimmerman, Luisa Beccaria, and Philosophy di Lorenzo are getting me very excited to spring dresses (once the weather warms up). Free People, Spell & The Gypsy Collective, and Anthropologie are the three bohemian brands I love to follow in Instagram. They still produce beautiful lookbooks and have awe-inspiring Instagram feeds. I also recently started following the French brand Sezane which has a really pretty curated Instagram feed.
3. Influencers: I have a few favorite bloggers that I love to check in on either daily or monthly. My fashion favorites are Alicia Mund of Cheetah is the New Black (such cool girl vibes) and Jess Ann Kirby. They both show real life day to day fashion that I can relate to. For lifestyle and interior inspo, I love Ashley Kane from Brunch on Chestnut. For motherhood and cute Instagram stories I love following Liz Adams of Sequins and Stripes (her family is so cute and funny), Something Navy (I’m obsessed with her cute daughter Ruby), Naomi Davis from Love Taza (she has the cutest the little kiddos), The Bucket List Family, and Brooklyn Blonde. For travel I don’t follow many but I do enjoy following Gal Meets Glam and Conde Nast Traveler.
4. Everyday Routines: Since life isn’t a pretty Instagram feed in actuality I try to make my daily routine a source of inspiration. The decisions and attitude you have toward them can certainly spark some inspiration. Sometimes the inspiration is sitting right in front of you without you realizing it. If I ever feel like my life is too boring, I try think of what could make it better. Sometimes you just gotta go with what you got and find new ways to elevate it. It can be easy to play the comparison game when it comes to blogging and social media but I kind of think real life, relatable moments are even better in my opinion. Isn’t that people started to gravitate toward blogs to begin with?
If all else fails, take a break and be “ok” with that. Go outside, listen to music, do the things that make you feel at ease. It’s going to be a sunny one this weekend so I’m looking forward to taking advantage of the light and get outside even though it is still cold out! I hope you have a great weekend wherever you are <3
