2015 was the fastest year yet. It is crazy how much can happen and change in just 12 short months. My favorite moments were the ones spent in new and familiar places with close friends and family. Here are a few snaps from my phone that made each month so memorable this year.
January: NYC Weekend
Brett treated me to a quick weekend trip in one of my favorite cities, NYC! We stayed in the Westin Hotel near Grand Central Station which was perfect because it was far away from the touristy hustle. We went out to a nice dinner on the west side facing central park on Friday night and spent most of Saturday walking around the city before heading to watch Emma Stone in Cabaret. Every time I go to the New York City, I fall in love with it all over again.
February: Quick Trip to Palm Springs, CA
February is by far the coldest month of the year with the highest possibility of snowfall. Which is why it is my favorite time of year to go somewhere warm. Luckily, Brett’s family spends every February in Palm Springs, CA so we went out there to visit them for a long weekend over Valentine’s Day weekend. We spent a lot of time hiking the mountains and soaking in the great weather…Might need to make it an annual tradition!
March: Getting Engaged
Probably the biggest highlight of my year was getting engaged! Brett and I have been dating for the past 5 years and living together for 2 years so it had been a long time coming and we are thrilled to be embarking on this new chapter of our lives together.
April: Catching a Concert at U Street Music Hall
I love going to concerts and listening to good music. It’s that feeling of getting lost in a song that really makes me so happy. My sister is more of a music buff than me and took me to see Reptar at U Street Music Hall this past April. I hadn’t heard of them before but they were super fun and would highly recommend if they are ever in your local area!
May: Kicking Off Summer at the Crabcake Factory in Fenwick, DE
The best part of summer is being at the beach and I try to make it out there most nice weekends in the summer. We kicked off Memorial Day weekend at the Crabcake Factory which is the best place for bloodies and beignets.
June: Summer Vaca in The Bahamas
Brett and I shut off the real world and headed to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas for a week long getaway in June. I loved the beautiful weather, gorgeous views, and delicious local cuisine.
July: Bachelorette Weekend on the Chesapeake Bay
My now sister-in-law invited my me to a fun-filled weekend on the Chesapeake Bay to celebrate her bachelorette. We kicked off the weekend for a night out in Annapolis on Friday night and spent the rest of our trip on a catamaran. I love the therapeutic experience you get when being on the bay that you don’t necessarily get during the busy season at the beach.
August: Wedding in Charleston
When friends of ours invited us to their wedding in Charleston, SC we had to jump on board. We love any excuse to be in Charleston. It is the cutest city with a lot of southern charm.
September: Starting Tweed and Lace
I had started a handful of blogs in the past but they never lived up to my expectations. I started Tweed and Lace with the hopes of sharing my personal style with the world while not being afraid to be in front of the camera. I love making my creative ideas a reality through this little corner of the internet. This post shown below was one of my favorites!
October: My Brother’s Wedding in Philly
Being a groomsmaid at the big brothers wedding was definitely a highlight to my year. Our childhood days are certainly long gone and sometimes I can’t believe how grown up we are getting. In many ways, I still view ourselves as little kids at heart. It was an honor to be a part of such a special day.
November: Walk for ALS in DC
Someone close to me recently got diagnosed with ALS and my mom and I participated in the Walk to Fight ALS this past November. Despite the un-expected struggles that life brings us, it is important to come together and fight the fight alongside the people we care about most.
Christmas in Maryland with the Family
Christmas is my favorite time of year to spend with family. It was also the first time Brett and I spent Christmas together since we started dating which made this Christmas even more special. I am so grateful for those few days at home with everyone at home!
Now, time to ring in the new year! Here we go 2016!!! I am ready for you 🙂
