TGIF!!!! This week was a long one. Ugh. It is always hard to come back to reality (work) after coming back from a magical vacation. We are already talking about our next getaway. We LOVE going somewhere warm in the winter and we were discussing last night where to go – we are currently considering South Africa in February or March. We have done the Carribbean and Mexico many times and want to try somewhere very different and exotic. Have you ever been? I think it would be a trip of lifetime. Stay tuned if we actually go through with it.
I was going to wait until next week to post about France but I just couldn’t wait! We had such a good time. Despite some rain here and there, we really enjoyed ourselves. It is so true what everyone says about France being a magical place. I have heart eyes just thinking about it. I can’t wait to go back one day – especially to the Provence region. Three days in the south of France is NOT enough but we made due and visited some pretty awesome spots.
We stayed in Nice as a “home-base” since I read so much about it being a convenient location. Nice is definitely convenient it terms of being so close to the airport and the train station but it also has a lot of offer itself. After a long travel day we arrived at our hotel Boscolo Exedra where we stayed 3 nights. After downing a glass of rosé and handful of salty peanuts we got showered, dressed, and hit the town. We were soon greeted with a torrential downpour of rain so we ran back inside out hotel to enjoy a light lunch at the bar. PS: I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh the raw salmon tasted while in France. It tastes so good on top of a thin slice of toast.
After it looked like the rain died down a bit, we made our way back outside and walked toward the ocean. We walked along the Promenade des Anglais and took in the views of the rocky sand beaches in front of us. We made our way to the marina and eventually walked up the Colline de Chateau to get the best views of Nice. I would highly recommend doing this if you ever find yourself in Nice one day. Later we headed into Old Town Nice and ate outside at a well known restaurant in the middle of the crowded cafes called Le Safari. It was pretty good – not the BEST meal of our trip – but the location is great and right in the heart of old town.
That about rounded up our busy first day in Nice! More to come next week! Have an awesome weekend 🙂
