I hope everyone had a great weekend. My weekend was pretty low-key. We stayed in on Saturday to watch football and hide from the rain. On Sunday I picked up a few fun fall flowers and pumpkins at Trader Joe’s to make our apartment feel more festive. If you want to get in the fall spirit you seriously need to go to Trader Joe’s, they have over 80 pumpkin products (pancakes, cookies, scones, waffles, cookie butter…the list goes on). It made we start thinking about what I would like to do this season. Here is a list of what’s on my radar:
#1 Go Apple Picking: I always talk about going apple picking every season but never end up going. Well, I am determined this year to pick my own apples, drink apple cider, and eat apple donuts! There are so many places to go apple picking around the greater DC area: Homestead Farm, Scribling Orchard, and Butler’s Orchard to name a few.
#2 Go to a Vineyard: Believe if or not, there are multiple vineyards located in the DC area (over 200!). Pippen Hill Farm is a newer vineyard that opened a few years ago and is also a beautiful wedding venue. I am dying to go check it out!
#3 Visit Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park: the best place to see the fall foliage is on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. It is also a great place to escape the city and go on a quiet hike.
#4 Eat and Drink Pumpkin Everything: I admittedly tried my first pumpkin beer last year. For some reason, I thought it would be too heavy but I have been a pumpkin beer connoisseur ever since. I am currently working on a “fall beer” post coming up soon so stay tuned. I also love to bake and my Pinterest board is full of yummy recipes I am looking to try.
#5 Watch Classic Fall Movies: I love watching a good movie that has an autumn backdrop around it. Who doesn’t love watching ‘Hocus Pocus’ when Halloween rolls around or watching the autumn leaves in Central Park in ‘When Harry Met Sally’?
What are some of your favorite fall activities?
