Wow today marks the last day of summer (for real!) and since I didn’t get the chance to show you any of my summer pictures I thought I would give you the highlights of where my summer took me. It was an amazing summer full of travels and memorable times with good people. Here were my favorite moments:
#1 Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island, Bahamas: Brett and I took a week-long vacation at the beautiful Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in early June to kick off summer. We stayed in The Cove Tower which is the more adult friendly part of the resort (and would highly recommend staying there if you are trying to stay away from the massive crowds). The food is incredibly expensive at the resort so we spent most of our dinners outside of the resort to enjoy the local cuisine. We definitely had our fair share of conch salads, whole snappers, fried plantains, and Bahamian rice. Our favorite place to dine out was Lukka Kairi in downtown Nassau (we went twice!) because the food is amazing (+ well priced), there is live music daily, the service is super friendly, and you have an amazing view of the water. It is also conveniently located at port so if you happen to be on a cruise that stops in Nassau, you should definitely check this place out!
#2 Philly Trip: My sister and I drove up to Philly to visit my big bro and his fiance for a weekend in mid-June. It was fun to walk around the city, eat amazing food (I am usually never let down by the food here), and spend some quality time with my siblings and soon-to-be sister-in-law! PS: if you are looking for some good New American food, go to Garces Trading Company and order the Lady Marmalade Cocktail and the Housemade Mozzerella.
#3 Weekends at the Delaware Shore: I am lucky that my parents own a second home at the beach in Delaware. We spent plenty of amazing weekends there for Memorial Day, my birthday, and the 4th of July. There is nothing better than zoning out from the real world for a few days and taking in these beautiful views.
#4 Charleston Wedding: I’ll hop on to any excuse to go to Charleston, SC. This southern city has everything anyone could ask for in a city – a charming downtown area full of shops and restaurants, beaches that are only a few miles away, quaint surrounding neighborhoods filled with the cutest homes, and warm temperatures throughout most of the year. It was a delight to be able to go back for a wedding this past August. Brett and I love going to Pearlz Oyster Bar for happy hour (you can’t beat getting a dozen oysters for $10.95).
#5 The Chesapeake Bay: I grew up a total beach bum and despite living near the Chesapeake Bay, I typically only see it when I would cross the Bay Bridge to get to the shore. However this summer, I spent more time on the bay (once for a Bachelorette another time to visit friends) and I could see why people love it. Whether sitting out on the dock or on a boat, looking out into the calming water makes life slow down for a bit.
#6 Labor Day in Avalon, NJ: I’ve mentioned this before but I took a trip up to Avalon, NJ for Labor Day with Brett’s family. I was blown away by how beautiful this beach town is. The homes are seriously a dream and the expansive beaches are gorgeous.
