Tomboy Chic: I was happy to see a lot of comfortable yet chic basics as well as sporty influences throughout most of the shows. I am someone who refuses to wear heels on most days and would happily embrace wearing a dress paired with a stylish sneaker or oxford flat.
Understated Boho Florals: By the time fall/winter rolls around, I hate the thought of storing my effortless summer dresses. For the past two years, I have been embracing the winter floral trend for early-late fall dressing. I always have fun with layering floral dresses/skirts with boots, tights, jackets, sweaters, and scarves. I love the more understated and boho inspired prints that I saw this past week as opposed to the larger floral prints I have seen in seasons past.
Preppy w/ A Feminine Twist: It is no surprise that can’t get enough of a sleek preppy look. My tailored blazers, shirts, and pants will never go out of style. JCrew is always great at taking a more modern approach to preppy dressing – pairing blazers with a sequined or a ruffled blouse.
Updated Winter White Basics: There is nothing new about the winter white trend. It has become a season staple during the colder winter months as it can be a breath of fresh air to your basic blacks. I love the crisp white coat shown at Theory’s show paired with a ultra sleek grey cross-body bag.
A New Take on Lace: My day to day dressing is usually pretty simple, structured, and comfortable but when it comes to dressing up I typically go all out with a super feminine dress. Lace is my favorite material for dresses in both the summertime and the wintertime. I am always looking for a new color or a new take on how to wear the lace dress. I usually gravitate toward white or black lace but I loved the new neutral colors I saw on the runway – especially the beautiful dresses at Marchesa’s fashion show.
Favorite Beauty Trends: I don’t go crazy with any big beauty trends season after season as I lean toward a more natural look. I loved the simplistic low buns, blushing cheeks, and the pink lip at Marchesa’s show, the ultra natural eye makeup with a filled in brow at Ralph Lauren’s show, and the whimsical flower crows paired with a bold bordeaux lip at Rodarte were fantastic!
