Hi guys! Hope your week is moving along at a fast pace. I actually thought yesterday was Friday. (ugh). How is your holiday shopping coming along? You’re probably around that point where you’re starting to think “Ok, what the heck am I going to get people?” It’s kind of crunch time the next two weeks where shipping deadlines are fast approaching. I shared 6 gift guides to give you some ideas here.
I love to buy gifts for other people but as I’ve gotten older I’ve become more into buying and receiving gifts that are more experience focused. Since time spent with friends and family can sometimes seem less frequent as we grow up, get busier, move, have families, etc. it’s so nice to find a way to give something where the sole intent is to spend quality time with them. Isn’t that better than some gift you will forget about in a few months? Memories last a lifetime so I think the time and money spent thinking about how you can buy an experience is money well spent! Here are 8 of my favorite experience gifts that I’ve received or given in the past:
Concert – I love the idea of concert tickets for the people that love music. My sister and I love seeing a show together and we’ve also gifted my dad concert tickets a few times in the past. Festivals tickets are a great way to plan a fun weekend trip with friends. My bachelorette was at Lollapolooza a few years ago and it was so fun! I still reminisce about how fun that was. The 9:30 Club and the Anthem are 2 of my favorite venues in the city.
Workout Class – This is a great smaller gift idea for your friend that likes a specific workout class. My sister and I frequently meet up for Soulcycle classes. What a great little treat for them plus you could grab a smoothie or coffee after class.
Sports Game – Any guy would love you if you got him a game-day ticket to his favorite sports team. My family is big into college sports so a ticket to any of their favorite team’s games would be a big hit.
Trip Near or Far – This would be the ultimate gift in my opinion! It is also one of the more pricier gifts but if you can swing it, it would create memories that would last a lifetime. If you can’t swing a trip to a far away destination than how about a staycation in your city? My mom, sister, and I spent 2 nights in DC earlier this year where we shopped, ate out, and got our nails done. Sometimes you just need a girls weekend.
Spa Day – Another great option to spend time with your gals. January-March can be harsh on your skin and life in general so how about gifting a facial, a mani/pedi, and/or a massage for a little pampering!
A Trip to a Local Winery or Festival – It seems DC always has something going one from wine and beer festivals to just about anything really. This would be a nice less expensive option that you and your friends or significant other can look forward to one weekend.
A Show – A show could be a stand-up comedian show to a broadway play. It is probably something you don’t go to a lot but this would make for a nice night out to dinner and a show after. Something different and still fun/entertaining!
Dinner Reservations – I love an excuse to dress up for a nice dinner. This is great for the people in your life that loves food and considers themselves a foodie. A nice treat for them to check out a popular restaurant and not have to pay 🙂
What am I missing? What experiences would you love to gift or receive?
