This Mara Hoffman dress was another favorite from our honeymoon last year. I specifically picked her out for Positano which was definitely our favorite place that we went to in Italy. Palm print dresses have been popular in recent years and are definitely an ideal choice for a beach getaway. I last wore a Mara Hoffman dress when I was in Palm Beach last year as shown here. Mara Hoffman is a great brand for shopping for resort clothes because the prints are always bright, vibrant, flowy, yet sexy at the same time. I love this Hawaiian flower printed dress and this poppy red dress.
I mentioned in Monday’s post that I would share a little bit about our trip to Cancun, Mexico. It seriously exceeded all of my expectations. I had only been to Cozumel, Mexico on a cruise a few years ago and wasn’t too impressed mostly because we landed at port which is usually filled with typical tourist trap places. Our stay in Cancun, however, was spectacular. We stayed at the JW Marriott which we really enjoyed. The pool and beach area was where we spent most of our time and our view from the balcony wasn’t bad either. We went to sleep to the sound of the waves every night since the weather was perfect to open our balcony doors. It is the kind of hotel where any room you have would allow for an amazing view of the ocean. We also loved the pool bar where we had the best service, drinks, and food off the menu. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a young family and while we don’t have kids yet we still enjoyed ourselves and weren’t bothered by the little ones around us.
The beach was our favorite part of the trip. The water was a gorgeous turquoise blue and the sand was light beige. It was also nice to hear the sound of waves too! There was definitely a lot of wind that cause the surf to be pretty powerful and I love the sound of waves crashing down. Everyday we took long walks on the beach and took a dip in the water. It was amazing. The weather was also fantastic! I would definitely recommend going in March if you are able to where there is less chance of rain and the weather hits mid to high 80s everyday. Not bad after dealing with a long winter. We noticed there were a lot of people from Chicago there at the time which makes a lot of sense!
We also ate very well on the trip. I was surprised to see an array of very nice restaurants to choose from up and down the strip. The restaurants aren’t centrally located but we liked the excuse to walk off all the food we ate. Our favorite restaurant was definitely Lorenzillos which has a beautiful view of the water and has all the seafood! You could even the fetch yourself your own spiny lobsters out of the tank (which Brett obviously got a kick out off). We also loved Puerto Madero which is an Argentina steakhouse that served to be a delicious alternative to all the seafood we had been eating. It is also has a beautiful view and was very close to our hotel. I would definitely recommend getting the steak and the souffle potatoes! Our other favorite restaurant with probably the most romantic setting was La Habichuela Sunset where the food and service was fantastic.
The bus transportation is also a very cheap and easy to use. We took the bus to get further downtown and we found it to be very convenient. Cancun as you may know is known for its party atmosphere which you can certainly find a lot of in the hotel zone. We did manage to go out one night for Brett’s big 3-0 bday and while we felt lousy the next day it was 100% worth it. We went to Coco Bongo which was a club (can’t remember the last time I was in a club) that had a fun and unique show aspect to it making it a very memorable and fun experience. Woo!
The overall vibe of the trip was amazing and I really felt like we were able to relax and escape there. We got lucky with the best weather too which can obviously make or break a beach trip. We never made it out to the different attractions like Isla Mujeres and Chiteniza but I am the type of person where just relaxing by the beach is the most amount of work I want to do on vacation. We loved it so much we are already talking about going back to Mexico next year. We heard good things about Playa del Carmen and Puerta Vallarta. Have you been on vacation in Mexico? I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
