I’m wearing a Flynn Skye dress from last year. Similar here.
Oh, wedding season. It is fast approaching, no? I don’t know about you but I’m one to spend too much time online shopping for a dress to wear to a wedding. It’s hard! Since I’ve been spending so much time browsing the internet on where to find the best dresses I thought I’d share with ya what I found! I also included some guidance on what to wear based on the dress code – in case you are debating what’s appropriate and what’s not.
Location also has an impact on what to wear too! For picturesque locations like a garden, rustic, or vineyard setting, stick to pastel colors, floral prints, and lace. For beach weddings, play with vibrant colors, blues, or tropical prints (I love a good maxi for a beach wedding). For a city chic, fancy hotel, or country club wedding, stick to solid colors in more structured styles and elevated fabrics. I always recommend sticking to colors and styles that work for you and that you won’t mind wearing again! Obviously stay away from white and I also would stay away from bright reds.
Casual – flowy printed knee length or midi dress. I’d stick to soft pastels or florals in light fabrics.
Beach – colorful prints from flowy knee length to maxi dresses. As mentioned above, I love a good maxi for a beach wedding.
Semi-Formal – knee-length to midi cocktail dresses in elevated fabrics (so no cotton). I think a maxi dress would work in a flowy printed style. Pick a print or style based on the location as mentioned.
Formal – knee-length to midi cocktail dresses in elegant fabric like lace, silk, chiffon, or chiffon. You also have more freedom to play with colors and prints.
Black Tie – wear a floor length gown in a more luxe fabric that has a little added drama to it like a low back, ruffle, lace, tulle, or sequins. I’d also look into wearing rich darker solid colors.
