Hi there! I hope your weekend was swell. What were you up to? It seems this summer is speeding on by, don’t you think? I feel like I am going to blink and it’s going to be fall – my favorite season of all – but I’m trying to savor the last 2 months of summer while it’s here. I need to put together a list of things I want to do before the summer ends. What is on your summer bucket list? I mostly just want to take advantage of the good weather, grill out as much as possible, and spend time with family/friends. Oh and hopefully squeeze in a few beach weekends too.
This weekend was a wash but it still went by way too fast as always. The east coast is getting hit with some unusual rainy/stormy weather right now. While I like an excuse to take it easy on some weekends, I sure hope it won’t last long because it will seriously get old fast! Needless to say we spent a lot of time getting our house in order (I still had a lot of boxes to unpack), take Sadie for long walks, and cooking in. It was really nice to lay low…
And here we are, at the end of July! We took these snaps almost a month ago for my birthday weekend when we were staying at my parents house. Since our weekdays and nights are more mellow these days with our new pup, I have been focusing on only buying the basic items I will wear over and over. Wearing a cute trendy piece just doesn’t make sense for my homebody lifestyle. On the off chance I do have the opportunity to go out at night, I want something that will work for work or other daytime activities too.
Enter the shirt dress. It is the one type of dress aside from a few simple cotton ones I own that get the most wear. It is a staple that is conservative enough for work yet flattering enough to wear out on the town after work. I also love the fact you can style it multiple different ways – with various accessories, jackets, and sweaters.
